Adding external links
The links that you created earlier between your pages were called internal links,
because they linked your pages to each other inside your web site. What if you want to link to another web site that has useful information related to your site? To do this, you need to create external links—links that point to pages somewhere else on the internet.
Here's what to do:
- Browse to the page that you want to link to. You can get a browser window in Netscape by using the menu command.
- Select the page address in the toolbar. It should look something like:
http://www.blah.com/yet/another/website.html
- Choose the menu command.
- In the window for your own web page, position your text cursor where you want the link to go.
- Click on the Link tool in the toolbar, or choose the menu command.
- In the dialog sheet, type in the text for your link in the top box. This is the blue, underlined text that the user will click on.
- Click in the bottom box, and choose the menu command to paste the address you copied in step 2. Click OK to finish.
