Dear Mom and Dear Dad,
Thanks so much for a real cool Spring Break! A vacation from school was so fun to take! I’m writing you not ‘bout a vacation place, but of the week prior, and the learning embraced!
So, hello, families friends...sisters, and bro’s! Wanna hear ‘bout our week? Okee dokee...Here goes:
We met Poly Gon, a shapely gal pal who lives in a most geometric locale... She’s def’nitely not curvy, but loves trapezoids... You, see, it’s the curves polygons will avoid! So, give her a rhombus, triangle or square and check out the outfits this hip chick will wear! But keep all those circles and ovals away! For straight lines and angles are her only ways!
We stayed busy as bees fine-tuning memoirs Just check out the bulletin board that is just ours! We’re writing in ways that aren’t just unique... We’re practicing skills that earn great critiques!
We also used second hands to time partners’ skills Like counting real quickly Now that’s a cool deal!
And what of “1st person” when you say or write “I?” Is that the same as “3rd person?” Dear “freund,” I say,”nein!”
A lunch...A calligrapher...Both Chinese highlights! Thank you, Fang Laoshi! You sure did us right!
And lest we forget the precious potato muffin meister? She came for a visit and loves each lil’ first grader!

We also went up to Mrs. Beverly’s room To see a performance with kids in costume! “What show?” did you say, “Who was the star?” (She wears a red cape,
and traveled quite far!) You know who I’m talkin’ ‘bout It’s a classic ole’ taleÖ And tied in quite nicely with our own fairytales!
Now, here’s a “heads up” for all o’ y’all folks So please listen up to this bald, first grade bloke! This Friday’s a NUD...So bring please in one buck! It’s the price to be paid to enjoy such good luck! For each dollar that’s brought helps undo “Katrina” So leave home your uniform, you know what I mean, huh?!
There’s just one more thing, so please don’t ya’ budge You just can’t go wrong with that Henry and Mudge! They’re fantastic books, and part of the “trade” whose vocabulary appears throughout 2nd grade! So, if you’re looking for books your child should get, Henry and Mudge is a sure-fire bet!
Once again, Mom and Dad, thanks for all that you do!!! Until next week...I bid you adieu!
