THE LOVETT SCHOOL REVISED HOMEWORK POLICY

After examining the research over the past year, we have decided to conduct our own investigation. Therefore, we are adjusting the homework policy for the Lower School. Our focus will be on reading for pleasure and reading to learn, with an emphasis on developing personal goal-setting skills. The expectation is that children will read nightly and keep a reading log.

Teachers will direct students and parents to appropriate math activities that will provide practice and extend math understandings. Our expectation is that time will be spent, throughout the week, engaged in appropriate math activities.

Other independent home study opportunities will be available on teacher web pages.

Tests will still be given, and students will be expected to be prepared.
