THE LOVETT SCHOOL HOMEWORK POLICY
Philosophy
We realize that creating a home school connection is important to school success. Therefore, thoughtful home engagement that scaffolds student learning is something we support. We are mindful that in order for children to be fully invested in their learning at school, they need time after school to unwind, play, develop outside interests, spend time with their family, and get a good night’s sleep. The following homework guidelines have been developed to allow families some flexibility in creating a homework schedule that enhances their family life.
4th Grade Homework Policy Statement
Guidelines
- Reading and math logs center around students developing personal goal setting skills; these goals will be initiated through a teacher/student partnership.
- Teachers will provide options for reinforcement and enrichment.
- Students will study for all tests and quizzes.
- Ample time to complete daily work is provided in class, but, on occasion, some students will need to complete unfinished work at home.
- All homework and logs will be assigned on Monday, and will be due on the following Monday.
- Reading will be completed and logged four times a week.
- Math activities will be completed and logged three times a week.
- One writing assignment, to be determined by the teacher, will be completed each week.
