When students enter fourth grade and fifth grade they begin using their Lovett email account in First Class on a regular basis.  First Class is the email program used at Lovett.  This account is provided for educational purposes.  We use it in the Lower School in order to instruct the students on how to use First Class and email etiquette and safety.  During our lesson on email, we talked about the different ways to access First Class from home.  You can download the software, free of charge, or access email through Lovett's webpage.   The computer department highly recommends downloading the software to your home computer because it's faster and works the same way as we show them in class.  As mentioned earlier, you can access email through Lovett's web page but it does have a different interface and works slightly different.  Many of the features available in the native client are not available if your student is using the web interface.  For example, to send an email the students need to know each other's log in name which includes a student's middle initial.  If they are working from the software there is a directory that can be accessed by knowing just the last name.  Directions for downloading the latest version of the software can be found at this address:
