Instructions
Each of
these is an mp3 file. You should have no trouble
listening to them on Lovett computers.
Mac users can simply double click on a link,
download to their desktop and play these with
quick time or itunes. PC users should Right
Click, then choose "save target
as....
|
After
downloading the excerpt, follow these
steps.
- You
are encouraged to use a piano or other reference
instrument in your analysis.
- Listen
to the excerpt several times to get familiar with
it.
- Determine
the key (mode) and meter you think works.
- Set
up your staff paper, complete with plenty of bar
lines....4 measures per system is generally
best.
- Transcribe
the piece, solving for Key, Meter, Bass Movement
(actually transcribe the bass voice), Harmonic
Progression, (not required on all assignments), Form
(number of measures and relative shape of the
excerpt.)
- Play
the excerpt as many times as is necessary.
